From a kitchen in Kullu to kitchens across India — and manufacturing for the world
The story of Nimkish — named with love, built with purpose.
In 2008, Punam Ghai's children had grown up and flown the nest. Her home in the Kullu valley was quieter now — but her kitchen was full of the same rich aromas it always had been. Turmeric, coriander, cumin ground fresh, the Himalayan way. She had spent a lifetime perfecting flavours that her family adored.
It was her sister Renu, who first gave the idea a shape — why not share these flavours with the world? Together, the family rallied around Punam's passion and helped turn a dream into a business.
She started with a domestic mixer grinder, her own kitchen, and a dream she had been quietly holding onto for years.
The first batches of Nimkish spice mixes were made entirely by hand. No factory. No team. Just Punam, her family recipes, and an unshakeable belief that food made with care tastes different from food made for convenience.
The name Nimkish: The name was born from love. Punam and her sister combined the names of their parents — Nirmal and Kishan — to create Nimkish. Every jar carries their memory.
Over the years, what began as one woman's passion project grew into something far greater. Today, Nimkish operates a full manufacturing unit in Kullu, employs 20 women from the local community, and produces over 60 ready-to-cook products spanning spice mixes, chutneys, and preserves.
The quality of Nimkish products has earned the trust of international food brands too. Our manufacturing capabilities today serve private label partners across several countries — a testament to the consistency and care that goes into every product we make.

The mixer grinder has long been replaced by a proper manufacturing unit — but the recipes, the care, and the Himalayan soul remain exactly the same. Every Nimkish product is made with one promise: that wherever you are, your kitchen can taste like home.
Made with love in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh — since 2008. 🌿
